Spreading education among the masses is perhaps the greatest gift one can give to society, as it enlightens and empowers people, humanizes them, and lends meaning to their existence, thereby bringing peace and prosperity to society and making this universe more livable. ALC College, affiliated with Assam University, a Central University, Silchar, Assam, is an emerging academic institution for undergraduate studies situated in a less developed rural area of Hailakandi District, Assam. Along with the academic enhancement, the College, which was established as a private venture in 1996, has made a remarkable contribution towards the advancement of society in general and academics in particular. I consider it a great privilege for me to be associated, in some way or the other, with this rapidly expanding institution for more than seven years, and it is more so now that I have the opportunity to contribute as President of the Governing Body since 2022, the administrative authority of the College. The responsibility has been further increased, as in 2023, the College was awarded a “B+” grade in the NAAC assessment, a rare distinction for an undergraduate rural college at this initial stage, having been provincialized by the Government of Assam only in 2013. I can vouch for the Principal and staff of the College in fulfilling the social and educational responsibility, through well-planned curriculum and outreach programmes. It is a matter of great aspiration and dream for the fresher’s seeking admission to this college, and a matter of pride and honour for the pass-out graduates. Our well-educated faculty, equipped with the latest technology and trends in the field of higher education, inspired by a missionary zeal, motivated by a remarkable student success, and supported by a humane and compassionate support staff, stands ready to help you reach your goals.
